Can I make a personal injury claim for whiplash? Brisbane Whiplash Lawyers

October 16, 2015 by Natasha Duff Ask a Question

Many people consider that having a minor car accident is nothing to be concerned about. If you walk away from a minor collision you might not feel the need to take the matter any further than having the dints removed from your bumper. However, if you have sustained any degree of whiplash, this can have a significant impact on your day to day life.

What is whiplash?

Whiplash refers to the acceleration-deceleration impacts on the neck which often occur in rear-end or side impact vehicle collisions. These impacts may amount to painful injuries to the muscles, ligaments and joints of the neck and other spinal areas.

The impacts of whiplash injury

The concerns of whiplash are particularly relevant to workers who remain seated at a desk most of their working hours, as it tends to require that you rest your neck frequently in order to make a hasty recovery. You may also experience ongoing pain and discomfort while seated stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time.

It is important that you seek assistance from our Brisbane Whiplash Lawyers as soon as possible

If you are experiencing whiplash as a result of a vehicle collision, it is important that you first seek medical attention to determine the extent of the injury. Once you know the extent of the injury, you will have an idea how exactly it might impact you in the future. More severe cases of whiplash can lead to extended absences from work and the need for regular treatment.

It is also a good idea to seek legal advice as to whether you have a personal injury claim for any economical consequences the injury has caused you such as time off work or medical expenses. If the injury occurred while driving in the course of employment, you may even be eligible to make a WorkCover compensation claim.

If you have sustained a whiplash injury, contact our offices for a free consultation with one of our Brisbane Whiplash Lawyers. You can contact our Brisbane Whiplash Lawyers on (07) 3252 0011 or through our general enquiries page.
